IN MEMORY OF JOHN NEWT HARVEY
John Newt Harvey was born November 29, 1938 at Colorado City, Texas. He was the son of the late Jasper Newton Harvey and Annie Mae Rhodes Harvey. John was a servant to his community his entire life. He served twelve years with the Hamilton Volunteer fire department where from 1963 till 1987 he served as City Fire Marshall. He had also served the Hamilton County area as City Marshall, City Police Chief, Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff and Jailer, Hamilton County Sheriff. During his career he also worked for Gatesville State School as a counselor, Woodway Police Department as a patrolman and and criminal investigation office, Riley Funeral Home, Dalton Drilling and Well Service, Hamilton ISD bus driver, Ken's Red and White stores, Purity Products Co. Plantation Foods Inc. as a Security officer and the Evant Feed Barn. He was currently employed by Hawks Security Systems as Sight Supervisor in Waco. On May 8, 1981 at Hamilton he was united in Marriage to sherry Jean Bulis. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Jean Harvey of Evant, son Leon Harvey of Huntsville and daughter, Leanne Harvey of Austin. He is also survived by three sisters, Tommie Lea Harvey Kennedy of Evant, Goldie Mae Harvey Pierson and Susie Paralie Harvey Pierson, both of Hamilton and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. His parents, two sisters, Annie Marie Harvey McGee and Mattie Belle (Pat) Pope, two brothers, Raobert James Harvey and Jay Jay Harvey preceded him in death. John passed away at the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Tuesday evening. He was 62 years of age. Transcribed from Funeral Home Notice.
